SILENT SIGNAL
Unlike many of my photographs, getting to this location wasn't part of the story.
It's a view I'd seen every day while in Queenstown, often driving past without giving it much thought. The ridge, the towers, and the landscape were all familiar. Then one evening, the light arrived.
I was simply commuting home. But as the last sunlight swept across the ridge, everything changed. What had become an ordinary sight suddenly stood out in a way I'd never noticed before.
What followed was a frantic rush to grab my camera and get into position before the light disappeared. Within a few minutes, it was gone, and the landscape returned to normal.
It's a simple moment, but one that became one of my favourite photographs from the Queenstown area. A reminder that sometimes the most memorable images aren't the most dramatic scenery, they are just waiting for the right light.
