RAW DESCENT.
One of the many tributaries pouring off the headwalls above the Hollyford Valley on our way to explore the untouched raw River.
The excitement that day was focused on what white water we might find further downstream, deep in the gorges. But as often seems to happen, it was another simple moment along the way that caught my attention.
Still high in the valley, this waterfall disappeared into the mist as it fell from the cliffs above. There was something about it that felt almost mythical, like it belonged to another time entirely.
For me, it captures what makes the Hollyford so special. Not just the river itself, but the countless moments, landscapes, and hidden details that exist around it. A reminder that sometimes the journey can be just as memorable as the destination.
